Today I’m pulling back the curtain to share something a little more personal — my mindset and my why. If you’ve followed my work for a while, you know I’m big on authenticity. I believe that the stories behind our businesses are just as important as the services we offer. So here’s a peek behind the scenes into my “why” as a creator and as a business owner. Grab your favorite drink, get comfy, and let’s get into it.
Why I Choose to Run a Business Over Working for Someone Else
There’s something wildly liberating about being your own boss. I won’t sugarcoat it — running a creative business isn’t easy. But the freedom it brings? Absolutely priceless.
I get to decide what my days look like. I get to choose the clients I work with and the art I create. Most importantly, I get to build a life that feels aligned with who I really am.
Before Mewphotovideo, I spent years in customer service — think retail floors and long nights bartending. Those jobs taught me so much about people, resilience, and hard work. But they also showed me exactly what I didn’t want. I felt overworked, undervalued, and creatively stifled.
Those years weren’t wasted though. They helped me build character, grit, and the kind of people skills I bring to every photoshoot today.

Living in Misalignment Can Be a Powerful Motivator
Nothing lights a fire under you like living a life that just doesn’t fit.
I spent years behind the bar mixing drinks and smiling for guests, but inside I craved something more. I wanted to collaborate with other creatives, geek out about branding and marketing, and create visual stories that spark confidence and connection.
Bartending paid the bills, but it didn’t feed my soul. That deep sense of misalignment pushed me to take the leap, start Mewphotovideo, and build the creative business of my dreams.
If you’re feeling stuck in a job or life chapter that doesn’t light you up — I feel you. And I promise, that tension can become the most powerful fuel for your next chapter.

The World Would Be a Better Place If We All Lived in Line With Our Truest Passions
Imagine if we all had the courage to do the thing that sets our hearts on fire. What a colorful, inspired, and connected world that would be.
My business isn’t just about taking pretty pictures. It’s about empowering you to show up as your boldest, truest self. When you step in front of my camera, it’s not just a photoshoot — it’s a celebration of your story, your passions, and your dreams.

Passion, Purpose, Photography
Being a creator isn’t just my career; it’s my life’s purpose. Creating art has helped me become the best version of myself — confident, driven, and deeply fulfilled.
I create to empower others, to inspire self-confidence, to celebrate the beauty in every story, and to live a life I’m obsessed with.
That’s why I’m so passionate about working with other creatives, artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs in Portland and Austin who are ready to step into their next level. I want to help you build a brand (and a life) that feels authentic, aligned, and uniquely yours.
So, here’s my invitation: design the life of your dreams. Chase that wild idea. Do the scary thing. Take the leap. And if you need someone to cheer you on and help you show the world who you are through bold, story-driven photography — you know where to find me.
