Looking for creative portraits that stop people mid-scroll? The Studio Lab is your playground—and this purple monochrome shoot proves just how electric it can be to take up space in front of the camera.
This vibrant session took place at Cobalt Studios PDX as part of their ongoing creative series for photographers. While I didn’t plan the set styling or wardrobe, I did get to work my magic behind the lens, directing poses and capturing the energy of the model’s striking look—complete with a handmade knit sweater, purple pants, and a whole lot of attitude.
This was purple, turned all the way up.
About the Monochrome Series at Cobalt Studios
Every now and then, I get the chance to just show up and shoot—no planning, no concepting—just play. Cobalt’s creative styled shoots are designed to spark inspiration and connection among artists. This purple monochrome concept was already dialed in, and my job was to bring the energy to life through expressive posing and crisp, editorial-style captures.
The end result? A portfolio of imagery that looks like it belongs in a fashion magazine—but was created right here in Portland, Oregon.

The Look and Feel
This purple-on-purple shoot gave us a surreal, glam rock vibe. Think retro cool meets modern edge—with glossy sunglasses, graphic makeup, and soft knit textures playing together in front of a saturated backdrop.
We moved between close-up portraits, full-body shots, and playful editorial posing. I gave the model gentle direction and let their energy lead the way—something I always encourage in The Studio Lab. Whether you’re shy in front of the camera or fully in your element, I help you feel safe, confident, and free to explore.
